IN LIGHT OF THE LEGAL AND CULTURAL traditions of Greece, summer study in that country is particularly appropriate for law students seeking specialization in admiralty and maritime law, public international law, conflict of laws, international business transactions, environmental law, and legal institutions of the European Union. With the view to serving those interests, Tulane Law School has sponsored summer sessions in Greece every year since 1980.
The 2010 Greek Isles sessions will be held in the islands of Rhodos and Spetses. There will be two Rhodos sessions and one Spetses session. In the First Rhodos session (May 30 - June 18), students may concentrate on Admiralty, International Conventions and the Law of the Sea (8 courses are offered). In the Spetses session (June 20 - July 9), students may concentrate on private international law, comparative law, business law, international procedure, and healthcare. The program for the second Rhodos session (July 11 - July 30) will focus on issues of Comparative Law associated with the transacting and regulation of international business transactions in the European Union. All courses are taught by well-known professionals in settings that enhance an understanding of the international dimensions of the issues and resources at stake. Students may enroll in one, two, or all three sessions for up to four credit hours in each session. Accordingly, Tulane’s nationally and internationally recognized summer offerings may be combined to secure a total of up to eight credit hours in two sessions and up to twelve credit hours in three sessions.
RHODOS II
Famous for the legendary Rhodian sea laws and its natural beauty, the island of Rhodos boasts rolling green hills that reach the emerald waters of the southeast Mediterranean Sea and form hundreds of miles of beaches and coves. Ancient Greek temples, Byzantine churches, and medieval palaces speak of the glories of the past. Optional excursions are planned around the island by sail and to the islands of Chalki, Kos or Symi by ferry.
Affiliated Institutions. Tulane Law School has long-standing relationships with the Law Schools of the Universities of Thessaloniki and Athens. Faculty members from those institutions teach in Rhodos, and Spetses, and frequently at Tulane.
